THE ALASKAN ADVENTURE Day 91 August 15,2009

We spent a leisurely morning at the campsite as I cooked breakfast outside. We are parked beside a small lake ( Ward Lake ) and the fish are jumping like crazy. It is mostly Salmon but there are different kinds of trout in there as well. Mostly Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden, both are good eating.

Around lunch we headed into town to get a lay of the land. We wanted to explore the possibility of going over to Prince of Wales Island for a couple of days and stopped at the Inter Island Ferry office. We found out they were very busy and the trip would be too rushed so we decided not to go. So we headed into Tourist Territory ( 2 cruise ships in town ) to see about a couple of tours. One is a flight over the Misty Fiords that we may take later in the week.
We walked amongst the tourists for awhile before heading to the grocery store as we were low in supplies. After shopping we went back to the campsite where we started a fire and enjoyed a nice supper outside. We enjoyed the campfire ( and marshmellows ) until the bugs started to get too bad. At that point we headed into the camper and called it a night. There is an RV park in the area, but I think we are going to stay here for the week and rough it ( no electricity ) as it is really a nice campsite.

While I was cooking supper Kathy very patiently stocked the fish. Camera in hand and pointed at the lake she waited patiently. Then it happened, the fish jumped out of the water right where she had the camera pointed. Click, and success. She won’t let me tell you how long she stood there.
