We woke up at the McLeod River Resort to a beautiful day on Monday and spent most of the

day catching up with Peg and Deb and John and Rick. Kathy and I had a bunch of work to do on the camper and we did manage to get some of it done even with starting about 2 in the afternoon. Monday evening Rick and Peggy cooked up a couple of chickens on a can and they were surprisingly good as I have never had them. Rick fitted two chickens over two beer cans filled with beer and spices and then placed them on the BBQ. Like I said they were surprisingly good and that was inspite of his and Peggy's cooking outfits.

Hey hoser, this is how we BBQ in the north. Eh.

It was a good evening and we all stayed up to late.

This lead to a late start on Tuesday and we still had a lot to do to get everything ready to leave on Thursday morning. It was at this time that everyone started working on us to stay longer but I was adament that we were leaving. We had a nice feed of ribs that night with Rick using his special BBQ sauce ( I think I should be worried ) but they were a hit. It was just hard to keep looking at him and Peggy in their BBQ outfits.

After dinner we enjoyed a fire down by the river to end a very nice day.

I don't know what was being said. But it was important.

Okay, these two almost didn't make it to the fire.

Pease get me another beer, Honey.

Even the dogs enjoy a good beer in Canada

On Wednesday we woke up to a covering of snow on the ground. That meant that no work was getting done that day as it was too cold. I was begining to feel my resolve to leave on Thursday slipping away fast.

Thursday we did manage to get most of the work done so we were definitely leaving on Friday. That night Deb invited us for dinner and threw a surprise, belated birthday party with all the trimmings. We had a fantastic prime rib dinner and Kathy and I sat with John and Deb for most of the night remiscing about the old, old, old days. Thanks Deb, it was nice.

Surprise

I did appreciate the reminder of just how old I am.

Even Joey sang Happy Birthday.

On Friday morning after failing to find a solution for the BBQ without putting any holes in the camper I asked Rick to help me afix a platform to the back to carry the BBQ. John came over and the three of us ( well mainly the two of them ) came up with a good idea and we put the plan into action. The only problem was that we spent most of the day implementing the plan and so guess what. We didn't leave on Friday. So much for resolve.

We did however enjoy a fun nite by playing two poker tournaments. Jodie and Dean showed up for the weekend so we had a nine handed tourney. John was the big winner as he took second in both tournements and took how a huge profit of $ 15.00. The top three for the first tourney were Dean, John and Rick coming in third. In the second tourney Debby came in third, John in second and yours truly won.

Saturday morning my resolve returned and we got up early, said goodbye to the crew and hit the road with plan to make it to Dawson Creek, BC. We were excited to be on the road but it was sad leaving the McLeod River Resort, we had a good 5 days and it was nice to catch up.
Thanks everyone.
