RELATIVES, RITES and ROUTES Day 12 September 20, 2009 Jasper, Alberta

THE WEDDING

Bride and Groom – Jolene Balkan ( aka Cindy ) and Michael Maltais.

Location: Pyramid Lake Island, Jasper, Alberta

They couldn’t have picked a better spot as the views from the island were spectacular.

The day was a huge success as the location was stunning.

The Bride was Gorgeous.

The MOH was beautiful ( frozen but beautiful )

The Groom was looking fine. Quite handsome actually.

Kathy was cold.

Guess who had to go back for the rings.

The Best Man was looking cool.

For the rest of us, well both Moms and Dads were pretty happy, the guests were quite stunning, Zandre had mismatched shoes and the day couldn’t have been any better. Well maybe a little less wind.

The ceremony was very nice ( short ) and Kathy read a poem that she wrote for the occasion called “On This Day”. I thought it was very appropriate and very touching.

Dispite the wind everything went smoothly especially now that they had the rings.

The Happily Married Couple

Now for the real story of the day.

Once the pictures were finished we headed down to Andy’s Bistro for the reception. Mike and Jolene had rented the restaurant for the night. It was very nice having the place all to ourselves. The restaurant did an excellent job, the food was exceptional and the service was top notch.

The time between the courses was used for the speeches. Kathy again went first ( you think she was the godmother or something ) and read another poem she had written called “Ode to Jolene”. This one got a few laughs.

The rest of the speeches were held over the next hour and the talks by Phyllis ( Brides Mom )

and Brian ( Brides Dad )

were from the heart. I don’t know about the rest of the room but they brought a tear to my eye.

After dinner was complete the music started and the frivolity began. The following pictures are copyrighted.

It was around midnight that Kathy and I said our goodbyes and headed back to the campsite. It was a very nice day and my congratulations once again go out to the bride and groom. Mike Maltais and The Maltais Balkan.
