RELATIVES, RITES and ROUTES Day 8,9 & 10 September 16, 17 & 18, 2009 Whitecourt to Jasper

Wednesday was a beautiful day so we decided to go golfing. I didn’t have my clubs with me so I had to borrow a set from my brother in law. He was out of town. So I did and we headed to the golf course.

My golf game stunk, it was the borrowed clubs but it was still a very enjoyable day. The weather was perfect for golf and I really got my moneys worth. Debby and John both had decent rounds.

These guys were in front of us and were really slowing down the game.

They finally let us play through.

Upon completion of the golf game we picked up Kathy and went out for lunch, after which we headed back to the house for a relaxing afternoon.

That night we feasted on the Halibut Debby caught with her two little hands. ( And a rod and reel ). It was absolutely delicious. Dinner was followed up by a night of Sequence, another new game. It was a fun evening.

Thursday was cloudy and rainy in the morning so we just relaxed and enjoyed the setting. The Chamberlains and the Howards really do have a nice spot. I got these pictures in the early evening as the mist was just starting

Thursday night we met Don and Peggy who are friends of John and Debby. They are friends and curling buddies and are really nice people. It was a very fun night.

Friday is moving day as we are heading to Jasper to attend the wedding of Mike and Jolene. So we said goodbye to Debby and John and Joey and headed down the road.

The drive was pleasant all the way to the park entrance as the traffic was light, the weather was good and I didn’t get stopped for speeding.

Once we entered the park we came into the mountains and we remembered how beautiful and majestic it is here. Sometimes you forget just how nice it is in your own backyard.

On the drive into Jasper we were able to view some wildlife. It was our first really good look at Elk and Mountain Goats.

I took a few pictures but we couldn’t enjoy the animals for long as we had to meet everyone for dinner and we were running behind. ( it helps to remember to change your clock when you enter into new time zones ). However we did get there in time and the girls headed off for a dinner of their own.

The guys headed for Evil Dave’s where we had a nice dinner and a discussion on how to save the world. Some of the guys were going on a 28 klm bike ride in the morning so we made sure it was an early night. Even though it was not that long of an evening it was very enjoyable.
